Since March 2018, Katharina Michael is Co-Head Global Transaction Banking Germany being responsible for Sales activities within the transaction banking business of UniCredit Bank AG in Germany – focusing on Investment Banking clients.

Following her degree in Foreign Economics Katharina Michael started her career at Berliner Bank as Credit Referent. A few years later she moved to the Foreign Trade division and was a key contributor in successfully building up the Commodity Trade Finance Department.
Besides international Commodity and Trade Finance business one of her focus points was the stronger interaction between the individual trade finance instruments, i.e. ranging from bank-to-bank financing to up to ECA covered project finance schemes according to the clients’ needs.
Following a brief position held at Ost-West-Handelsbank, Katharina Michael moved to Commerzbank AG in 2005, where she joined the Structured Commodity Trade Finance Department; in 2010 she was promoted to head the Structured Trade Finance Department. Besides significant project experience within international businesses, including regulatory projects e.g. Basel II and Basel III, she was integral part in developing and implementing a structured advisory approach with respect to finance corporates’ supply chains.
In 2016 Katharina Michael moved to UniCredit Bank AG, heading initially the Trade Finance Sales Team in Germany, being responsible for the Sales activities within the Multinational Corporate Client Segment of UniCredit Bank AG regarding Trade Finance instruments as well as working capital optimization.
